After dining at Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse restaurant for what seems like the hundredth time, my wife convinced me to write a review for what I have decided is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at.
My job necessitates a drive between Grand Junction and Denver at least once a week. I stop at customers along the way – mainly in the Roaring Fork Valley. Usually I leave Grand Junction very early and go up valley to Aspen, where I begin my calls until I get to Glenwood Springs – usually close to lunch time.

I have always gone to big, nationwide chain restaurants because they are always fairly consistent. That’s a pretty good method in most parts of the country, and after meals at a couple local eateries I did not think any differently. I enjoy new and different things as much as anyone, but I was pretty disappointed. After several meals I solicited opinions from Glenwood Springs residents what local restaurants were hot. Of course, I got a lot of varied opinions but the common thread was Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse.
The local denizens invariably praised Juicy Lucy’s, and honestly, after finding the place I was impressed immediately. By immediately I mean I was impressed even in the parking lot. Juicy Lucy’s is located right in the middle of the fun Glenwood Springs downtown community and only a short walk from the huge Glenwood Hot Springs pool. It is only a short stroll to all kinds of fun shops and remarkable architecture. Juicy Lucy’s itself is housed in a building that was built in the late 1800s, enhancing the historic charm. Once inside, I was impressed at how the place accommodated me and my guest. The inviting restaurant was busy even at lunch, but the staff was welcoming and considerate, and we were seated quickly.
Actually, I have been there dozens of times and I have never waited over 15 minutes to be seated – even during the occasional dinner stop on the trip home. And once seated, the food is out of this world. I have tried everything from their large appetizer menu to their house specialties and have always loved it. Juicy Lucy’s has an extensive wine selection – from delicious, inexpensive domestics to more expensive but immaculate imports.
They have expanded and revamped the dining room, and the place looks better than ever. Despite dozens of visits, I still hit Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse restaurant every time I eat in Glenwood Springs.
