Hidden Restaurant in Glenwood Springs is Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse – Glenwood Springs Eats

Eat out In Glenwood Springs
When we decided to alter our life style and escape the rat race of city life we started looking for our next heaven on earth. Living on the California coast was enjoyable, but crowded no matter what entertainment we decided to do. We had learned about Colorado and the wide open spaces, especially in western Colorado with towns like Aspen and Vail that are smaller communities, but also popular cultural centers.

Flying into Grand Junction we ventured east on Interstate 70 to check out Western Colorado. It was late afternoon when we reached Glenwood Springs and decided this would be a nice place to spend the night and then decide on Aspen or Vail the next day. We decided to stop at the old and quaint Hotel Colorado and after settling into our room we wanted to explore what Glenwood Springs had to offer. The receptionist recommended some small shops to visit, but when we inquired about restaurants she said it depends on the food you wish to eat. Being in Colorado I wanted a big fat steak, but my wife insisted on seafood like in California. I explained to her the closest ocean was several miles distant, so the seafood should never be asflavorful as we could get back home, but she insisted. So her recommendation was a small restaurant directly across the bridge called Juicy Lucy’s steak house where we could have the greatest variety of both.

After visiting several unique shops we found Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse and after a brief amount of time at the historic bar we were seated. As I looked over the menu I saw the perfect meal for me, Colorado Elk Sirloin. All natural grilled elk sirloin sliced and presented on sautéed portabella mushrooms, but I was impressed by the {fish|seafood|fresh catch| selections on the choices. I was even more impressed by their daily specials such as; Broiled Sea Scallops stuffed with Alaskan King Crab or Grilled Hawaiian Opa with Oriental Citrus Glaze. I had to inquire about the age and quality since it was certain the closest ocean was far away. He implied they only include the freshest ingredients and the shell fish is flown in each morning six days a week. My wife selected the Sea Scallops and I have to say if you didn’t know you were in {the rocky mountains|Colorado|dry regions of the country| you would think you were at a seafood restaurant on the coast.

Next day on the tour we decided on Aspen, and explored all the small pueblos from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. Here we could snowshoe in the winter, fly fish in the summer, hike, bike and be by ourselves, or go to a play or concert almost any night. We found our wonderful retirement place and knowing that no matter where we moved to in the valley we were only a small distance away from the greatest seafood in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. Who would have imagined that a dining area named Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse would facilitate us make one of the best choices ever.
