So you are in the mood for some delectable fresh seafood. The only problem is, well…you are in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. The nearest sea is almost a day away. Thankfully, in Glenwood Springs there are several excellent restaurants that make extensive efforts to deliver not only fresh seafood and sushi to their tables, but succulent steaks and imaginative American and Asian dishes as well.
The Grille and Raw Bar, in the heart of trendy downtown Glenwood, offers an eccentric and truly inspired seafood menu.
This place is open aboutthat it is a fairly expensive fine dining activity surrounded by family restaurants and sports bars.
That chic and style does not lead to any pomp and circumstance, though. The environment in the u-shaped raw bar area is always lively. The bartender makes cocktails and chefs prepare sashimi and shuck oysters and jokes with the natives, who steadily fill the seats during Fins’ famous happy hour. Prices are far cheaper than traditional dinner fare during happy hour but portion sizes and selection are amazing. Arrive early for happy hour as bar seating is limited.
Juicy Lucy may not necessarily bring sizzling beef to mind, but this upscale steakhouse in downtown in Glenwood takes the dining experience seriously.
Regularly voted at the top of Glenwood’s restaurants, the bustling atmosphere and excellent steaks can make it tough to find a seat. Even on weekends though, the great staff and management are able to shuttle waiting patrons through the bar with its extensive wine and beer lists and remarkable cocktails.
Perhaps it is time for brunch or lunch and the familiar fast food fare is not an option. A distinctive selection is down by the river.
Situated near the river in the south end of town, Rivers’ Sunday morning brunch is a lauded by locals. If it is Sunday lunch, choose a little Greek pizza or Lower Valley Salad with delicious grilled salmon.

The menu choices at The Pullman are a sundry mix of straightforward but enticing American, fresh and scrumptious seafood and some delicious Mediterranean dishes.
New to the Glenwood restaurant scene, The Pullman has become a favorite of the vegetarian set, as the organic and vegetarian dishes are well thought out.
As always, Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse in Glenwood Springs is tops in my book.
