As a result, Bowman and Knight started to sift all kinds of new shoes names from candidates. The key point that Bowman would like to find was Greek names' past history, and at the same time, it was Knight's duty to look for names, which were related to the Olympic Games. What's more, Bowman can contact with Netsuke Company directly, so Johnson estimated Bowman's Cortez item has won the number one priority, and has adapted the first full-length long of the soles.

Although Johnson disapproved to TG-21's shoetree in the 1970s, there was no influence on Cortez to become the top training shoes continuously. On October 30, 1970, Johnson wrote a letter to Phil Knight and spoke, "I do not want them to mix in our best-selling sports shoes, but the design of this kind of shoes make too many mistakes".

In 1971, Cortez was awarded to be the biggest fashion of training shoes by "A world of runners". Furthermore, Cortez was awarded to be the year's best race running shoes along with marathon running shoes of Tiger. There was no doubt that these running shoes have become Netsuke and Blue Ribbon Sports Company's cash cow. However, on aspects of flat running shoes for competitions, Nike Cortez won popularity that was far more than Tiger Cortez. As time went by, Cortez was still a member of Nike series.
