Custom T-Shirts and Clothing: A Simple Marketing Strategy by Dan Heinkel
One of the most successful ways to promote a clothing line is to have people wear it. Whether it's a celebrity or simply your employees, if people see it out there, they'll become curious. For example, Ralph Lauren is known for having its employees wear their clothing. Or when Snoop Dogg wore a Hilfiger sweatshirt on Saturday Night Live, it sold out of New York City stores the next day. But what about those companies that aren't clothing lines? Can they still take advantage of this simple, yet powerful marketing strategy?
Of course they can. Clothing is like a walking billboard. And the companies that realize this are taking full advantage with custom t-shirts, custom golf shirts, custom hats, and so on. By slapping your logo across the chest of a t-shirt or above the brim of a hat, you're doing wonders for promoting your company. It's subtle, yet it's effective.
A custom t-shirt isn't the same as shoving a business card in someone's hand or ranting to them over the phone. Unless they're looking for your service, most people don't like to be preached to. A custom t-shirt allows you to indirectly introduce your company to potential customers. By passing someone wearing a local painter's t-shirt in the mall, a potential customer might remember your company the next time they need to paint. Or maybe it'll remind them that their bedroom walls could really use a fresh coat, and they'll call you. You would be surprised what a small investment in some custom embroidery or custom screen printing can render.
It takes a creative, business-oriented mind to create a successful marketing strategy. Sometimes these strategies consist of elaborate, appropriately-timed commercials and other complex tactics. However, not all marketing strategies need to go to such great lengths to reach their audience. Sometimes, by keeping it simple, you can obtain the same goals.
